30,000 overseas jobs available in "Mega Jobs Fair"

AN estimated 30,000 overseas jobs will be available during a three-day fair organized as part of this year’s Independence Day celebration, according to an official of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) 7.
Evelia Durato, POEA 7 regional director, said in a Sun.Star Cebu report that POEA, the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) and other government labor agencies will be putting up a “Mega Jobs Fair” from June 12 to 14 as part of the country’s Independence Day celebration.
Labor Secretary Marianito Roque said in his visit to Cebu for Labor Day that on June 12, “mega jobs fairs will be opened simultaneously nationwide.” He said the fairs are similar to the Dole’s “Jobapalooza” program.
Job openings include technical, administrative and clerical work in sales, service, agriculture, manufacturing and professional sectors.
Durato said 50 licensed recruitment agencies have confirmed that they will be joining the jobs fair. She said more are expected to join before the end of the month.  She said the fair will focus on jobseekers who were retrenched because of the global economic slowdown.
